The Ministry of Tourism accepted the request of the Municipality of San Giovanni Rotondo for the inclusion of “Path of the two Convents” between Italian religious paths.
This pedestrian itinerary connects the convents “Santa Maria delle Grazie” of the Capuchins of San Giovanni Rotondo and “San Matteo apostolo” of the Franciscans of San Marco in Lamis.
The project, financed by the Local Action Group (GAL) Gargano with an investment of 116.523 euros, aims to enhance the historical-religious heritage of the region.
Mayor Michele Crisetti expressed great satisfaction with the recognition, underlining the importance of synergistic work between the territories and bodies involved. The route, in addition to connecting two important places of worship, offers a naturalistic and landscape experience of great emotional impact, with rest areas, signs and points of historical-cultural interest.
The “Path of the Two Convents” represents an opportunity to promote slow tourism and the internal areas of the Gargano, offering pilgrims and tourists an authentic experience far from mass tourism.
